Nucleic Acid Detection
Bigtec labs’ hand held point-of-care diagnostic equipment is designed to bring the power of bench top laboratory equipment to the Clinician by providing rapid, low-cost near-care diagnostics. Our battery operated, real-time micro-PCR is poised to revolutionize medical analysis and treatment in-field and in the laboratory, by reducing the analysis time and driving down the cost of medical diagnostics by orders of magnitude. Using state of the art Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems technology, the devices are slated to be at the cutting edge of medical diagnostics for years to come. This is in keeping with our vision of providing accurate, affordable diagnostics at point of care.
Our platform is designed for the diagnosis of infectious diseases irrespective of whether the causative organisms are bacteria, virus, fungi or parasites. Independent, third party validations of our device for Hepatitis – B detection has been completed successfully by an organization certified as a Centre for Excellence in liver diseases by the Government of India. Multi-centric clinical trials at internationally renowned centers will commence shortly.
We are presently involved in the development of systems for:
- Malaria
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
- Chikungunya
- HIV
- HPV
Discussions on H1N1 detections at transit points using our platform have been initiated with a nodal government laboratory.
Bigtec labs is researching novel ways to create a hand held device for the processing of various biological samples on chip. The technique involves the use of microfluidics and specialized material for the processing of the samples. The device is intended to enhance the capability of our other products.
Water Analysis
The presence of pesticides in food and water sources is a cause of concern. In order to reduce the possible health hazards inherent in the accidental consumption of high levels of pesticides, the team at Bigtec labs is researching ground-breaking ways to detect the presence of pesticides in the environment. By developing a quick method for detecting the extent of pesticides and other contaminants we can enable preventive measures to reduce health risks.
Biofuels
Bigtec labs is actively pursuing prospective solutions for significant environmental issues. In light of this, we are currently researching methods for extracting biofuel from plant species endemic and readily available in the Indian sub-continent. The end goal of our biofuels venture is a global set-up of an eco-friendly source of fuel that is both affordable and efficient. Our present research in the field has been yielding encouraging results. Please check back in the news section for updates when available.
